Beliefs All children can learn and enjoy success. Children learn best when instruction is compatible with individual learning styles. Students need real life skills. Every child's success depends upon cooperation between school, home and student. Students are responsible for their own actions. Learning encompasses higher order thinking skills. Our curriculum promotes skills necessary for students to excel both now and in the future. The curriculum contains performance-based objectives that are measurable and dynamically respond to the needs and abilities of our students. Research-based strategies are embedded in professional learning and are integrated and applied across the curriculum. Differentiated instruction is practiced in all classrooms and a comprehension MTSS (multi-tiered system of support) program is in place to support our students. A rich offering of special area classes is provided to all students daily. Enrichment classes and opportunities are provided for students who are meeting/exceeding standards. Why Masonic Heights Elementary? Masonic Heights Elementary serves 446 students of the 3,516 students within Lake Shore Public Schools. Highlights include: Generous community passed a $35 million Safety, Security, and Technology Bond. District-wide 1:1 initiative designed to cultivate learning using Chromebooks. Championship athletic programs with league and state titles. Anti-bullying programs to provide all students with a safe learning environment. Fine and Performing Arts programs participate in state and national competitions. International Exchange programs with China, Spain, Germany, and Italy. Advanced Placement, Early College, Dual Enrollment, Career and Technical Education, online, Advanced English Language Arts, and Mathematics classes.
